In her new cycle of works Immersion, artist Jorinde Voigt (*1977, Frankfurt am Main) once again deals with the invisible: How do we perceive something? Immersion, the experience of complete absorption, finds a performative expression in Voigt's works. Each work emerges from a sequence of actions that begins with the format-filling immersion of the paper in paint. At the center of each composition hovers the figure of the torus, an archaic, topographical-mathematical form that Voigt understands as a model for perception, joined by notations. The cycle encompasses various formats, techniques, and materials, including ink, pencil, pastel, gold, copper, and aluminum. The publication presents the 2018 cycle in numerous pictorial plates and provides documentary insights into the artistic development process.
