CLAUDIA COMTE
IN NATURE NOTHING EXISTS ALONE

PESCIA FIORENTINA, CAPALBIO, ITALY
16 JULY – 30 SEPTEMBER 2022

Hypermaremma 2022 is pleased to present, in collaboration with CURA, IN NATURE NOTHING EXISTS ALONE, a site-specific environmental installation by Claudia Comte. Spanning over one hundred meters in length, the work is composed entirely of pine logs sourced from nearby Monte Amiata, a formerly volcanic mountain in lower Tuscany. The trunks spell out the eponymous phrase, which was adapted from a text by pioneering American biologist and scientist,  Rachel Carson. The logs will be repurposed for construction use once the Hypermaremma exhibition closes in September.
IN NATURE NOTHING EXISTS ALONE is among the most formidable environmental installations that Comte has created to date, building on her previous investigations of site-determined work that deal with issues of climate change, ecology, and global pollution, based precisely on the observation of the rules of nature and its mutable forms.
