For the latest STUDIO SOUNDS edition, painter and conceptual artist Sven Drühl opens the door to the sonic world that accompanies his creative process. His playlist moves effortlessly between intense energy and meditative depth—from the raw edge of IDLES and Napalm Death to the introspective calm of Radiohead and Morphine. Much like his art, Drühl’s musical selections oscillate between structure and improvisation, precision and atmosphere. Listening to these tracks feels like stepping into the rhythmic pulse of his studio—where landscapes become abstract, and sound becomes form.

SVEN DRÜHL

Sven Drühl (b. 1968 in Nassau, Germany) lives and works in Berlin. He studied Fine Arts and mathematics at the University of Essen and completed a doctorate in art science at the Goethe University in Frankfurt.

By drawing on the artistic achievements of modernism and postmodernism, Drühl sees the opportunity to develop a new style, a new "metamodern" visual language. In his mostly serial paintings and sculptures, he always works conceptually, creating something innovative by reconstructing and evaluating what already exists.
