Cactus, Snake & Donut

Claudia Comte is renowned for her sculptural works in marble of stylized cacti, often set against minimalist geometric scenes. For CACTUS, SNAKE & DONUT, Comte miniaturized these normally life-sized forms and turned them into containers and functional objects for use in the home. The eponymous snake is a playful saltshaker, the cactus a reservoir for pepper, and the donut can be employed to keep a boiled egg steady as spices are added before eating. When not in use, the three objects form an elegant landscape that infuses nearly any setting with these stoic icons of the desert.
