Egill Saebjörnsson | performancelectureseries #4 Egill Saebjörnsson - Recreating the world at the speech desk
KÖNIG GALERIE | Dessauerstrasse | 19.4.–19.4.2011
Egill Sæbjörnsson’s work is an approach to experience, a mode of behaviour, a play. He creates arrangements that cannot be described as mere “installations”. They are at once performance set, sculptural accumulations, music score and three-dimensional drawings.
Some of his works incorporate music and projections with everyday objects, in a way that is both comical and poetic. Other works feature complete stage sets and performances, with figures that talk and sing and interact with commonplace objects or with the artist himself, all with strong references to both contemporary society and cultural history. In this lecture performance Egill Sæbjörnsson will express himself about the relationship between the artist and the world in connection with time and space.
Born 1973 in Reykjavik, Iceland, Egill Sæbjörnsson today lives and works in Reykjavik and Berlin.
