Alicja Kwade grinds pebbles like diamonds, covers coal briquettes with gold leaf, bends bicycles, dissects everyday objects into the finest material particles, or measures a room with the help of tiny hands that move forward by the hour. While the clock "Gegen den Lauf" (2013) ticks amazingly "correctly" the floor sculptures "Der Tag ohne Gestern" (2014/15) make us aware of the inexorable passing of time. With her installations, sculptures, video works, and photographs, Alicja Kwade addresses fundamental phenomena on which our experiences of the world and reality are based and creates sensual-poetic works with which she questions the nature of time.
