Many people remain unaware that a lot of the hygienic products we use in daily life – soaps, shampoos, hand sanitizers, and other beauty wares – are often petroleum-based. In a way, oil has revolutionized how we clean ourselves and our environment, but at what cost? In her DRILL SOAP, the artist provokes such a question by moulding soaps into the shape of an oil drill in a jet black colour that reflects the specific pigment of petroleum itself.
