NOW REPRESENTING
ARGHAVAN KHOSRAVI

KÖNIG GALERIE is delighted to announce that Arghavan Khosravi is joining our gallery.

Arghavan Khosravi was born in 1984 in Shahr-e Kord, Iran. She studied Graphic Design at Tehran Azad University, Iran, followed by Illustration at the University of Tehran. Upon relocating to the US, where Khosravi is now based, she completed the studio art program at Brandeis University before receiving an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2018.

Khosravi creates large, multi-part wall hanging works that operate between the medium of painting and that of sculpture, incorporating influences as diverse as Persian Miniature Painting, fashion magazines, and printed textiles, the latter of which often form the ground on which she paints. The hybrid nature of her works, which feature primarily female characters, allows Khosravi to investigate the formal conditions of both natural and illusionistic depth simultaneously, a technique that helps her to render visible pressing issues related to freedom, censorship, and war.
