28 APRIL – 30 APRIL 2023

In conjunction with Gallery Weekend Berlin 2023, KÖNIG GALERIE is pleased to announce two new exhibitions at St. Agnes. In the Chapel is Monira Al Qadiri’s CRUDE EYE, which features a video work of an imagined oil refinery in the artist’s native Kuwait, as well as a purple dinosaur singing a karaoke tune, and six wall-affixed sculptures of oil drills. Upstairs in the Nave is Robert Janitz’s SPHINX, featuring paintings from 2009 to the present, including a mirrored wall installed to enhance the experience of seeing these works. There will also be a talk with Robert Janitz on Sunday 30 April at 11 AM to provide further context for the show and an opportunity to hear directly from the artist about his practice.

Concurrently, new presentations in the SHOWROOM, organized into mini, fair-like booths, provide an opportunity to see a focused presentation of a given artist’s work.Outside, a new installation of sculptures by the Mexico-based artist, Jose Dávila, are on view in the courtyard of the gallery and in a temporary exhibition space located adjacent to it.
